Iraqi oilOil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced today, Saturday, that more than one million barrels of oil have been received from the region so far, while confirming that the first tanker has been loaded with the region’s oil at the port of Ceyhan.
Abdul Ghani said in a press statement: “A few days ago, the pumping of oil from the Kurdistan Region to the port of Ceyhan resumed via the Iraq-Turkey pipeline after a halt of more than two years on this pipeline.” He noted that “for the first time, the federal government is receiving oil produced in the region and is responsible for exporting it outside Iraq.”

He added, “The quantities received so far have reached more than one million barrels,” noting that “the first tanker has docked at the port of Ceyhan, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.”

Abdul Ghani explained that “the tanker will be fully loaded and will be sent to its contracted destination,” noting that “this is a major achievement by the federal government and the region in successfully resuming the region’s oil exports and providing the state budget with the necessary funds.”

The resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq’s oil fields began last Saturday. Ali Nizar al-Shatri, director of the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), confirmed that the implementation of the agreement to export oil from the Kurdistan Region’s oil fields would begin on Saturday, noting that the proceeds would go to the federal budget.
