Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Friday that a final and agreed-upon text of the “peace agreement” between the United States and Iran had been reached.
Sharif stated in a post on the “X” platform, which was followed by Shafaq News Agency, that “amidst the intensive and continuous mediation efforts undertaken by Pakistan, we are fully aware of the ongoing disinformation campaign waged by those who want to sabotage the peace agreement.”
He added: “Away from all the noise, we can confirm that a final and agreed-upon text of the peace agreement has been reached, and Pakistan is now working closely with both sides to arrange the next steps. Peace has never been as close as it is now.”
In the same context, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced on Friday that the Islamabad memorandum of understanding is “closer than ever” to implementation, stressing that its details will be shared with the public in due course.
Earlier today, a senior US administration official revealed to Shafaq News Agency that the agreement with Iran stipulates Iran’s commitment to destroying its existing nuclear materials and removing them from the country, in addition to dismantling the infrastructure related to its nuclear program, denying what Tehran reported regarding postponing the handling of the nuclear file for 60 days or the continuation of enrichment operations.
He added that the release of frozen Iranian funds would not be done in advance, stressing that no dollars would be released before Iran fulfilled its obligations, and that the agreement was entirely based on the principle of implementation first.
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the US official stressed that the understanding ensures the strait remains open to international shipping, denying the existence of any arrangements that would allow the continuation of the restrictions imposed by Tehran in the past.
He pointed out that the agreement includes an Iranian commitment to stop funding groups classified on terrorism lists, indicating that this clause is an essential part of the understandings that were reached.
