The US embassy in Baghdad has approved a proposal to form a government of “national salvation” in Iraq, the newspaper said in a report published on Wednesday, 25/7/2018. The Iranian ambassador, Iraj Musjidi, has moved to stop the implementation of this proposal .

“Allawi brought his draft project to the Iraqi political forces and to a number of embassies of foreign countries in Baghdad, including the US embassy, noting that the Americans sent positive signals about the proposal,” a leader of the National Alliance was quoted as saying.
“The project of forming a government of salvation includes abolishing the parliament and provincial councils, suspending the constitution and forming a government that includes political figures outside the consensus of the ruling parties. In the same context, the newspaper quoted a leader of the Shiite alliance confirmed the holding of “an expanded meeting of the leaders of the Shiite parties in Baghdad, in the presence of Iranian Ambassador Irj Musjdi.”
“My mosque told the leaders of the Shiite forces that Iran is keen to respect the Iraqi constitution, while acknowledging the results of the elections and the formation of an elected Iraqi government,” he said, adding that the mosque accused the Americans of inciting the demonstrators to cause chaos in Iraq.
