The US Treasury Department announced on Thursday evening a new package of Iran-related sanctions targeting individuals, entities and ships, as part of Washington’s intensified pressure on Tehran and networks linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah.
According to the announced data, the measures include 21 people, 16 companies and 10 ships, in addition to sanctions on individuals that Washington said were linked to Hezbollah or the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The United States also redesignated Hezbollah under a terrorism-related sanctions authority, in a move it said was aimed at emphasizing the party’s ties to the Iranian government.
The US Treasury said the measures also target individuals linked to Hezbollah and the Quds Force, including Turks, while confirming that the new package is part of efforts to cut off funding networks linking Iran and its allies.
The move comes as part of the US “Economic Fury” campaign aimed at targeting Iran’s financing networks and circumventing sanctions.
The sanctions coincided with the Trump administration’s announcement of an escalation of its “maximum economic pressure” campaign against Tehran.
