Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that Iran had paid a “heavy price,” arguing that the foundations of the Iranian regime had been deeply shaken by recent developments.
Netanyahu added in his remarks that what is happening represents a major shift in Iran’s internal and regional situation.
He continued, saying, “I tell you that the end of the Iranian regime is its downfall,” in a new escalation of Israeli rhetoric towards Tehran amid continuing tensions between the two sides.
On Tuesday, Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the army to bomb targets in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, before Trump dissuaded them from this escalation after a phone call.
Iran, for its part, threatened that the war on Lebanon would be a war on all fronts, accusing the United States and Israel of violating the ceasefire.
