Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and US Senator Joni Ernst discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and their repercussions for the region, as well as ways to confront the threat posed by ISIS.
This came during his reception of Ernst, a member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, and his accompanying delegation in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, according to a statement received by Shafaq News Agency.
The meeting discussed US support for maintaining peace and stability in Iraq, the security situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the threat of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and the latest developments in the Middle East and their implications for the region.
The two sides emphasized the importance of joint US-Iraqi cooperation with the Kurdistan Region to maintain peace and stability in the country and confront the movements and threats of ISIS, which continues to pose a real threat to the security and stability of Iraq and Syria.
