On Sunday, Representative Alia Nassif renewed her warning against the strange acquiescence of the Ministry of Electricity to monopolistic companies, including the American company (GE), indicating that what is happening is an organized crime to loot the money of the Iraqi people in exchange for some corrupt people receiving commissions. Open an investigation and stop the theft of Iraqi money and avoid depriving the people of electricity for the next five years .
Nassif said in a statement, “Despite being careful not to specify the names of companies executing projects financed by loans in the federal financial budget to avoid a lack of competition and an increase in prices, and despite the warnings issued by the Ministry of Planning in this regard since late last year, there are entities in the Ministry of Planning. Electricity is still seeking to contract with the American monopoly (AG), and is suspiciously challenging everyone .”
She added: ” It seems, unfortunately what I talked about the ministry about breaking the monopoly and open the door to competition between companies was not applied on the ground, as we said in an earlier statement in the case of contracting with this company Stneb billions of people ‘s money and the Iraqi live without electricity in the next five years ” .
Nassif continued: “We have conveyed the reality as it is to the Iraqi public to know one of the most important reasons for the collapse of the electricity system over the past years,” stressing “the need for the Abu Ragheef Committee, the Integrity Commission, and all regulatory bodies to intervene, open an investigation into this important file, and cut the way for monopolistic companies, now and in the future.” Thus, more than half of the electricity problem in Iraq will be eliminated.”
