Member of Parliament, Yasser Al-Husseini, affirmed today, Tuesday, that the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq represents a national obligation for the current government, noting that the previous government shirked its responsibilities in preserving sovereignty.
Al-Husseini said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, that “the parliamentary decision issued in 2020 regarding scheduling the withdrawal of foreign forces from the country is still valid and binding on the current government,” adding that “this decision came in line with the national interest and to preserve Iraq’s sovereignty.”
Al-Husseini indicated that “the government had previously set a timeframe for the withdrawal of US forces, and there are other steps that will be taken if this withdrawal is not implemented.”
