MP Hussein al-Sa’bari confirmed on Thursday that the decision by the Presidency of the Republic and the Prime Minister’s Office to withdraw the appeal against the Khor Abdullah Agreement came in response to pressure from parliamentary forces to restore this vital waterway to Iraq.
Al-Saabari told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the two executive authorities took the step of withdrawing the objection as a result of serious efforts within the House of Representatives,” indicating that “Parliament was unified in its position on this issue.”
He added, “We were among the signatories of the request submitted to the Presidency of the Republic to withdraw the appeal against the Federal Court’s decision regarding the Khor Abdullah Agreement.”
