MP Thanaa Jasib affirmed her commitment to full national sovereignty over Khor Abdullah on Friday, noting that she was a signatory to the parliamentary statement rejecting the agreement, which was invalidated by the Federal Supreme Court, which deemed it unconstitutional.
In an interview with Al-Maalouma, Jasb said, “The Khor Abdullah Agreement, which was invalidated by the Federal Supreme Court in its decision No. 105 and its unified decision No. 194/Federal/2023, is a violation of the constitution and void in form and content.”
She added, “Khawr Abdullah represents an integral part of national sovereignty and cannot be relinquished or compromised under any circumstances,” stressing, “I will continue to defend every inch of Iraqi land, based on the provisions of the constitution and the decisions of the Iraqi judiciary.”
The MP explained that “the issue is not only related to Khor Abdullah, but extends to the issue of border demarcation and the maritime view outside the creek,” stressing “the importance of moving toward comprehensive and clear agreements that guarantee Iraq’s full sovereign rights within its borders and maritime ports.”
