MP - Neglecting the water issue is a disaster...the government is busy with bridges and investorInformation/Exclusive:
MP Suzan Mansour criticized the government on Tuesday for ignoring the water crisis and its serious repercussions, warning that continued water scarcity will lead to a crisis that threatens agriculture and even drinking water.

“Many villages rely on themselves to dig wells and develop primitive plans for water supply, without any government support or assistance,” Mansour told Al-Maalouma. “The government is turning a blind eye to one of the most serious strategic crises, while focusing its attention on building bridges, paving roads, and attracting investors, while putting the water issue behind it.”

She added, “Water scarcity is no longer just a threat to agriculture, but also threatens drinking water, threatening a real disaster if this issue continues to be ignored.”

Mansour continued, “The government announced the formation of a special water committee, but experience has shown that many of these committees remain mere headlines without any real substance or practical steps.”

Mansour called on the government to “place the water issue at the top of its agenda and provide radical solutions by supporting farmers and encouraging agriculture, ensuring food and water security for the country before it’s too late.”
