The MP for the Al-Fateh Alliance, Hamid Al-Mousawi, confirmed that Parliament is determined to reduce the budget deficit to 20 trillion dinars instead of 70, as well as reduce the budget to 110 trillion.
Moussawi said in a press interview, “The Finance Committee as well as other committees within Parliament are working on a final night in order to resolve the budget file and reduce expenditures and adjust them in proportion to the situation in Iraq and its financial capacity.”
He added, “Parliament seeks to reduce the budget deficit, which exceeded 70 trillion dinars, as emphasis will be placed on securing employees’ salaries, as well as parliament’s move towards the amount of 72 trillion allocated as expenditures for the year 2020, and then Parliament begins to calculate the other paragraphs in order to trim Parliament.
And that “Parliament is determined to reduce the budget to make its total amount confined to between 100-110 trillion dinars, and there will be a reduction of more than 50 trillion, thus making the deficit between 20-25 trillion, taking into account the rise in oil prices.”
