MP Mudhar Al-Karawi confirmed on Sunday that forming the next government will take three to four months, noting that the level of disagreements between political forces is not complicated.
Al-Karawi told Al-Maalouma that “consultations to form the government will clearly begin this week, with meetings being held for a number of forces to determine their priorities and their vision for the nature of the next government,” expecting that “the coming weeks will witness bilateral and trilateral meetings between the forces representing the components in Baghdad, within the framework of setting the priorities of the government program, and then proceeding to determine the entitlements of the components, especially the three main positions, the premiership, the presidency of the republic and parliament.”
He added that “forming the government, in any case, requires three to four months to be fully prepared in all aspects, while emphasizing that the disagreements are very limited so far, and there is an agreement to strive to shorten the timeframe and adhere to the constitutional parameters for the formation of the next government.”
