MP calls for government to be held accountable for obstructing the budget

Representative Raed Al-Maliki called on citizens, on Thursday, to hold the government accountable through the ballot boxes for obstructing the budget schedules and halting their interests after all attempts to hold it accountable in parliament and the judiciary failed.
Al-Maliki said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency, “The government has suspended transfers even within one ministry, although they do not require any additional financial cost,” noting that “the disbursement of governorate allocations for the years 2024 and 2025 has been frozen, while the government continues spending on projects under its direct management.”
He added, “The government has refrained from addressing the issue of contract confirmation and food security contracts, while repeating promises to include them in the 2026 budget, which are the same promises that were previously made regarding the 2025 budget without implementation.”
