Ministry of Water Resources - Equipping and installing more than 400 solar-powered well pumping kitsThe Ministry of Water Resources announced on Sunday that it has equipped and installed more than 400 solar-powered well pumping stations across the country over the past few years. A statement from the ministry stated that “the General Authority for Groundwater has installed 312 solar-powered pumping stations in most of the country’s governorates in recent years, with the aim of securing water from wells to remote areas that suffer from power outages and are far from freshwater sources.”

He added that “the ministry has equipped 92 more solar-powered pumping stations under a World Bank contract, most of which have been installed in the governorates of Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Anbar, and Diyala.” He noted that work is ongoing to complete the remaining units according to actual needs and the timeframe specified for them.

He also explained that “the crews are an effective and sustainable solution for providing water to agricultural lands and daily uses in remote areas, after determining water needs and selecting appropriate pumps based on the required capacity and height to pump water through modern irrigation networks to reduce water waste.”

It is worth noting that one of the most prominent features of solar pumping systems is that they are environmentally friendly, do not produce any harmful emissions, are of high quality, require simple maintenance, and have a longer lifespan compared to other diesel-powered pumps.
