Ministry of Planning - More than 28 tons of gold imported through Baghdad and Najaf airportsThe Ministry of Planning announced, today, Sunday, the import of more than (28) tons of gold through the airports of Baghdad and Najaf Ashraf, as the head of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, Fayyad Al-Dulaimi, stated in a statement, that “(28) tons and (298) kg of gold were imported through the airports of Baghdad and Najaf Ashraf, during the period extending from October 2023 until the end of December 2024.”

He also explained that “(4) tons were imported during the last three months of 2023, while the imported quantities during 2024 alone exceeded (24) tons,” indicating that “the jewelry department in the agency, after opening the two inspection units at the aforementioned airports pursuant to the Cabinet’s decision, inspected and labeled all imported quantities, achieving financial revenues exceeding (5) billion and (536) million dinars.”

The statement also affirmed that “the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control is the sole official body authorized to inspect and mark gold jewelry, grant licenses to practice the goldsmith profession, and register the exit of gold from Iraq,” emphasizing that “no gold export has been recorded during the past period.”
