Ministry of Planning: Completion rates of the Grand Faw Port project reached 81%

Ministry of Planning - Completion rates of the Grand Faw Port project reached 81 percentThe Ministry of Planning announced today, Wednesday, that the completion stages of the Grand Faw Port have reached 81%.

The ministry stated in a statement received by {Euphrates News} a copy of it, that: “The aim of the project is to operate the Grand Faw Port, in order to prepare the appropriate works in the port basin, to receive large ships, as it includes docks for docking ships for loading and unloading purposes, in addition to yards buried in the sea, to establish service facilities on them, as well as roads for bridges, in addition to a tunnel to connect the port to the transportation network.
It added, “The project includes: (port basin excavation works, sea burial, payment works, electricity stations, water and other services such as roads and crossings that connect the port to the transportation network in Umm Qasr, Safwan and Zubair).”
The ministry pointed out that “the project needs local and imported raw materials, as well as construction materials, specialized equipment to implement the works, in addition to the high skills that serve the stages of its implementation.”
It indicated that “the actual completion rate of the project reached (81%), while the completion rates of each of the western and eastern breakwater contracts, and the port entrance road contract reached (100%), while the quay wall contract for the container terminal is completed by (100%), and is currently being received by the General Company for Iraqi Ports. As for the marine excavation and backfilling contract for the container yard, it has been completed by (78.8%), and the navigation channel contract has been completed by (75.5%) and work is underway to complete it.
