Ministry of Communications - Unification of telecommunications traffic from Al-Faw to Ibrahim Khalil in a historic agreementThe Iraqi Ministry of Communications announced Thursday, the signing of a new partnership contract with the Kurdish company, Dell Technology, officially authorized by the Kurdistan Region to route international telecommunications traffic through Iraq using the temporary transit method, in a move described as historic to unify the national telecommunications network. During the signing ceremony, Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, stated that the importance of this agreement lies in activating Iraq’s international corridor, increasing revenues, and strengthening the country’s geographical position as a strategic corridor for global telecommunications traffic.

She added that signing this contract with Dell Technology represents a qualitative shift, as for the first time, Iraq is being presented as a unified, single communications network from the far south in Al-Faw to the far north in Ibrahim Al-Khalil, noting that international companies previously dealt separately with the federal ministry and regional companies, which weakened Iraq’s attractiveness as a communications corridor.

The Minister also confirmed that the agreement with Dell Technology, a company licensed in the region, came after successful negotiations and allows international companies to deal directly with the Federal Ministry of Communications, which enhances the international community’s confidence in Iraq’s infrastructure.

In contrast, Aram Al-Salihi, Managing Director of the Kurdish company Dell Technology, stated that the company possesses an infrastructure extending from the northern to the southern borders, adding, “We are ready today, in conjunction with the Ministry of Communications, to provide transit crossings and we invite international companies to take advantage of Iraq’s position as a safe and strategic corridor.”
