Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, considered on Tuesday that Iraq is the first in the world in sulfur reserves.
This came during his meeting, in his official office today, with a delegation from the UAE GUtech Company to discuss ways of cooperation and partnership in the field of sulfur industry, in the presence of the Director General of the General Company for Al-Mishraq Sulfur and the Assistant Director General of the Investments Department in the Ministry, according to a statement issued by the Ministry.
The statement added that the minister discussed the capabilities of the Emirati company, its desire and interest in partnership with the Ministry of Industry to implement the project for the extraction and production of refined sulfur, and listened to a presentation on the capabilities and activities of the company and its projects in various countries of the world.
The Minister instructed to provide complete data and information on the establishment and work of the Emirati company and its plan to work in this project, and also directed the General Company for Al-Mishraq Sulfur to provide all facilities to the Emirati company and invite it to visit the company in Nineveh Governorate and see the reality of the situation and negotiate in order to reach a formula for cooperation and partnership that is technically and economically feasible, given that The sulfur industry is one of the strategic industries and projects in Nineveh Governorate, which receives priority in the government program and has a significant impact in providing job opportunities and achieving economic and social development.
Al-Najm affirmed his full support for the development of the sulfur industry based on its strategic importance to the country, especially that Iraq is the first in the world in sulfur reserves.
