The Military Industrialization Authority announced on Sunday a plan to produce mortars, field rocket launchers, and artillery by 2025. Authority Chairman Mustafa Aati told the official news agency that “the Military Industrialization Authority’s factories are in the process of producing new types of light weapons, medium ammunition, and heavy artillery ammunition, in addition to producing mortars, field rocket launchers, and artillery by 2025.”
He also explained that “the volume of contracts with the Authority to locally produce the weapons and ammunition needed by the Iraqi Armed Forces during 2023 and 2024 contributed to saving more than $700 million allocated for the purchase of weapons and ammunition from foreign sources.”
