Rahim Al-Aboudi, a member of the Coordination Framework, revealed on Tuesday details of the meeting of the Framework’s leaders that was held on Monday at the home of Nouri Al-Maliki, leader of the State of Law Coalition.
Al-Aboudi told Shafaq News Agency that the meeting addressed the need to contain the US President’s envoy to Iraq, Mark Savaya, and to restore balance and control media statements and positions, and to prove that the framework is the first and last decision-maker regarding the process of forming the new government, especially the file of naming the prime minister.
Al-Aboudi stressed that the coordination framework takes into account international pressures on various political and security issues, as well as the boycott of the upcoming government by influential political parties and its repercussions.
He added that the meeting discussed the security file, especially the attack on the Krommor gas field in Sulaymaniyah, its security and economic repercussions, international interventions in this file, the agenda that was discovered, and how to deal with what happened and what will happen in terms of future measures.
Al-Aboudi explained that the Coordination Framework stressed during its meeting the need to address these violations and not allow them to be repeated in any way, and to hold accountable the parties behind them, regardless of their source or any political or regional cover they have. He pointed out that the leaders of the framework are closely following up on the results of the investigations, with an expected statement to be issued soon to reveal the parties involved.
Mark Savaya, the envoy of US President Donald Trump, announced on Sunday (November 30) that he would arrive in Iraq within the next two weeks, confirming that he carries “a special message from President Trump to the leadership in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”
“Big changes are coming in Iraq, and from now on everyone will see actions instead of words,” Savaya wrote on the X website, referring to Washington’s readiness to take concrete steps toward the outstanding issues.
The Coordination Framework, which includes the ruling Shiite political forces in Iraq, held a meeting yesterday, Monday, which it said was to follow up on important security and political files and the results of the investigation into the bombing of the Kormor field, in addition to settling national entitlements within the constitutional deadlines, in coordination with partners in the political process.
According to a statement issued by the framework, the meeting focused on institutional coordination to ensure stability and protect the interests of citizens, as announced during its regular meetings at the office of the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki.
