Media outlets quoted a US official on Tuesday as saying that Ukrainian authorities have agreed to the terms of a possible peace deal with Russia that would end the three-year-long war.
ABC News quoted a US official as saying, “The Ukrainians have agreed to the peace agreement, and there are some minor details that need to be worked out.”
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after a telephone call with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that Kyiv sees many prospects for peace and an end to the war with Russia following recent high-level talks in Geneva.
He wrote on the X platform: “After the meetings in Geneva, we see many prospects that could make the path to peace a reality. There are tangible results, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that Moscow had not received the updated 19-point peace plan for Ukraine and was waiting for the United States to share its settlement plans through official channels.
Peskov confirmed, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik, that the plan has not been discussed in detail, as it is still a draft from the American side that was developed based on the understandings reached in Anchorage, noting that at the moment, the only substantial option is the American project, which will be a good basis for negotiations.
The US administration had previously announced a plan to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, while Russia confirmed its openness to negotiations and its commitment to the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump that took place in Alaska.
