Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani announced on Wednesday an agreement with the leader of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, that the “tripartite agreement” would be the basis for enacting an oil and gas law.
Barzani’s office said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, following a meeting with Hakim in Erbil: “We agreed with the head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, that the recent tripartite agreement to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan Region would be a starting point for agreeing on a federal oil and gas law.”
He added, “We also discussed the reform programs we are implementing in the Kurdistan Regional Government, particularly the Ronaki project to provide continuous electricity to citizens, and the Hesabi project to activate the banking sector. We affirmed the regional government’s readiness to share these successful experiences with the federal government and assist it in the areas of electricity, reforming the banking system, and digitizing public services.”
He stated, “Our shared hope remains that the upcoming parliamentary elections will mark the beginning of a new phase of understanding and resolution of contentious issues, ensuring the protection of the rights of all components.”
