Imran al-Karkoushi, a member of the State of Law Coalition, suggested that the selection of the next prime minister would be delayed, noting that the process is still in its early stages and everyone is awaiting the Federal Court’s ratification of the final election results.
Al-Karkoushi told Al-Maalouma, “The issue of selecting and electing the prime minister to assume the duties of head of government is not at all linked to any law, regulations, or even conditions that govern the final selection of the new president.”
He added, “The selection of the president is still contingent on understandings and agreements between the political parties and the distribution of responsibilities and quotas among the blocs participating in the political process. This matter requires more time from the coordinating framework and other forces.”
He indicated that “the delay in forming the government may extend beyond the entire month of December, as the political parties are still at the beginning of the process. There is no resolution to this issue, and the Federal Court is still expected to ratify the final election results. After that, the political forces will have the obligation to conclude their dialogues to select the person who will head the next government.”
