Iraqi Vice President Nuri al-Maliki expressed his desire to strengthen the Iraqi army with Russian weapons, and also activate the economic and trade prospects between the two countries.
Maliki said in an interview with Sputnik “Russian:” During the next visit to Moscow, where I will meet with officials starting with President Putin, we will focus on the need to activate the Russian role in the region, especially Iraq, and we want the Iraqi army to have a weapon from Russia, Iraqi Army soldiers trained and knew him well. ”
“We will also talk about activating the economic prospects between the two countries in terms of electricity, energy and trade. We want a stable and permanent strategic relationship, including economic contracts, reconstruction, participation, arms and political presence for Russia in Iraq.”
Both Russia and Iraq have signed a deal under which Russia will supply the T-90 tank to Iraq, said Vladimir Kojin, a Russian military aide to the military cooperation.
