Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on Monday for an immediate ceasefire because his country is going through an unprecedented crisis that threatens its present and future.
Mikati said in his speech at the joint Arab-Islamic summit on the aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, which was followed by the / Al-Maalouma / agency, that “his country is going through an unprecedented historical crisis and is suffering from a blatant Zionist violation,” indicating that “this aggression has caused the displacement of more than a million people.”
He added: “The World Bank estimated the size of the economic losses in Lebanon due to the aggression at eight billion and 500 million dollars,” noting that “100 thousand homes were completely or partially destroyed due to the Israeli aggression at a cost of three billion and 400 million dollars.”
He added: “We call for an immediate ceasefire.”
