State of Law coalition member Haider Al-Lami revealed on Saturday that the UNAMI mission was the one that requested to leave Iraq six months ago, and the government’s achievement lies in removing American forces from Iraq.
Al-Lami said in a statement to the Al-Ma’louma Agency, “Considering the ending of the UNAMI mission in Iraq a governmental achievement is incorrect, as the mission requested to leave six months ago,” indicating that the demands of the people and political parties are for the withdrawal of American forces, not the UNAMI mission.
He continued, “The government’s efforts to remove American forces from Iraq are unreal and lack credibility,” pointing out that “the Iraqi government did not submit a request to the Americans regarding the removal of its forces from Iraq, in addition to that it did not discuss it except for the visit of the security delegation and the Sudanese visit to Washington.”
Al-Lami concluded his speech by saying: “The declaration of a state of emergency in Iraq by Biden indicates the maintenance of American hegemony over all aspects of the economic, political, and military state,” noting that “the evidence of the failure of the committees and the Iraqi government to work on this file is the state of emergency declaration.”
