A member of the State of Law Coalition, Haider al-Lami, accused today, Tuesday, the parliament presidency of negligence and obstructing setting a date for the voting session on the general budget, adding that delaying the approval of the budget for a longer period is destroying the interests of all the Iraqi people.
Al-Lami said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, that “all projects that concern the government and citizens depend on passing the budget as a result of the recent disagreements that occurred within Parliament,” noting that “Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi needs more seriousness in order to pass the budget.”
And he continued, “There is a clear failure of the parliament’s presidency regarding not deciding the date of the voting session on the general budget,” pointing out that “Al-Halbousi must play a major and pivotal role in converging views and setting a date for approving the budget.”
Al-Lami concluded his speech: “We must work to pass a balanced budget among all members of the Iraqi people, and not distinguish between one component or party over another,” adding that “disrupting the approval of the budget for a longer period is disrupting the interests of all the Iraqi people.”
And the political analyst, Ibrahim Al-Sarraj, had confirmed in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, suspended more than 120 draft laws by his orders, and they were not pushed to the presidency of the Council and the competent oversight committees.”
