A security source in Anbar province revealed on Thursday that large US military reinforcements had arrived at Ain al-Asad base from Erbil province, for unclear reasons.
The source told Al-Maalouma News Agency, “Large reinforcements coming from the Harir base in Erbil have arrived at the Ain al-Assad base in the al-Baghdadi district of Hit, west of Anbar. The true motives behind the increased American fortifications around the base building are unknown, following the earlier evacuation of large numbers of its forces.”
He added, “US forces have deployed a convoy of military equipment and vehicles equipped with fighter jets to reinforce their presence at the base, at a time when US aircraft have intensified their airstrikes over the western Anbar desert regions toward the Syrian interior.”
The source confirmed that “a security force accompanied the convoy from its departure point to the western regions and from there to Ain al-Assad base.”
