Shafaq News/ The lawyer of the sacked MP, Laith Al-Dulaimi, reported on Tuesday that the Federal Court decided to terminate the membership of the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi.
The lawyer stated in a video recording that the Federal Court considered the lawsuit filed by his client, Laith Al-Dulaimi, against Al-Halbousi.
He pointed out that the decision taken by the court included many paragraphs, which he described as “important and significant.”
The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, issued a decision terminating the membership of MP Laith al-Dulaimi based on the latter’s resignation.
Al-Dulaimi announced his rejection of the decision to exclude him from the Iraqi Council of Representatives, which was taken by Council Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, while describing the decision as “illegal and arbitrary,” and called for deterring and confronting “dictatorship.”
It is noteworthy that Representative Laith Al-Dulaimi was a member of the “Taqaddum” party led by Al-Halbousi, and was nominated within the party’s ranks for the regions north of Baghdad in the last parliamentary elections that took place in October 2021.
On April 22, 2022, Al-Halbousi dismissed Al-Dulaimi from the Taqadum Party due to his “failure to adhere to the contexts and directives of the Taqadum Party leadership and his violation of the governing controls in the internal system.”
Last June, Representative Laith Al-Dulaimi returned again as a member of the Iraqi Parliament for the Sovereignty Alliance led by Khamis Al-Khanjar.
