Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Al-Jarallah said on Monday that Kuwait has started extensive contacts with the countries of the world, the World Bank and the Republic of Iraq to prepare to host a donor conference for the reconstruction of liberated Iraqi areas.
“There is no date for the conference, but it is likely to be in the first quarter of next year,” Jarallah told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony at the Iraqi embassy in the country to liberate Mosul.
He added that Kuwait stands by Iraq from the beginning and supports it through the international alliance and the bilateral relations which bring together the two brotherly countries.
“We have an understanding, coordination and harmony with the brothers in Iraq and we are able, through this coordination, to overcome any problems that may occur,” Jarallah said.
He congratulated the Iraqi people on the victories achieved in Mosul “and its return to the bosom of Iraq after its liberation”, praising the heroism which reflects the hardness and sacrifice of the Iraqi people in reaching these results.
The Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, last July telephoned Prime Minister Haider Abadi, expressing his congratulations to the government and the people of Iraq to win a duel in Mosul, stressing Kuwait’s readiness to host an international conference to restore the liberated areas in Iraq.
Abadi said on June 22 that the cost of destruction of infrastructure because of the war on the duel exceeded $ 100 billion.
