PUK MP Rankin Abdullah on Sunday appealed to the federal government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government to resolve the fate of Kirkuk and the disputed areas in accordance with Article 140 of the Constitution.
“The need to resort to dialogue between Baghdad and Arbil, to sit at the negotiating table and avoid bloodshed, escalation and provocations that will not solve anything, but deepen the wounds of citizens Arabs and Kurds,” Abdullah said in a statement received by Mawazine News.
The government of Baghdad and Erbil demanded “to speed up comprehensive negotiations that guarantee the rights of the Arab and Kurdish peoples and the rest of the components in the disputed areas.”
“The government is keen to protect the lives of citizens in Kirkuk,” she said, calling for “the withdrawal of troops from the city center so that citizens can lead their lives more naturally and not to provoke sensitivity and the use of cases of proliferation of weapons and the military by the media to seduce sedition or fueling the situation in the city.” / A.43
