Kremlin: Putin-Trump meeting location agreed upon

The Russian presidency, represented by the Kremlin, announced on Thursday that an agreement had been reached on a location for the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, confirming that the location would be announced at a later date.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said in press statements that, based on a proposal from the US side, a preliminary agreement was reached to hold a summit meeting between Putin and Trump in the coming days, and that the two sides have begun joint work on the details of the upcoming meeting.
The Kremlin representative explained, “There was talk about next week as a possible date (for the summit), but the two sides are now directly preparing for this important meeting, and it is difficult at this stage to determine how long the preparations will take. However, the option of holding the meeting next week was considered, and we view this option positively.”
Regarding the possibility of a trilateral meeting between Putin, Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ushakov said that this option, “which has been discussed in Washington for unclear reasons,” was “nothing more than mentioned” by the US envoy during his talks in the Kremlin on Wednesday, and “was not discussed, while the Russian side left it without any comment at all.”
Ushakov explained that Russia proposes “focusing first and foremost on preparing for the bilateral meeting with Trump,” and believes that “the most important thing is to make this meeting successful and fruitful.”
Ushakov stressed that Putin’s meeting with Witkov “took place in a practical and constructive atmosphere,” and that “both sides can feel satisfied with the outcome of the conversation,” adding that “ideas for further joint action in the context of resolving the Ukrainian crisis were reviewed.”
According to Ushakov, “it was once again confirmed that Russian-American relations can be built on a mutually beneficial scenario that is significantly different from what they have been in recent years.”
The Kremlin representative noted that Moscow “has begun informing its friends and partners of the results of the working meeting” held between Putin and Witkov on Wednesday.
Earlier, Trump praised the results of the talks between Putin and Witkov yesterday in the Kremlin on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, announcing “significant progress” during the meeting.
CNN later reported, citing White House officials, that Trump had instructed his team to plan a meeting with the Russian president as soon as possible. Other media reports indicated that Trump planned to meet with Putin next week, followed by three-way talks with Putin and Zelensky without European leaders present.
