Shafaq News/ The Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Qais al-Khazali considered, on Friday, that Iraq is facing an “economic war”, referring to the rise in the exchange rates of the dollar against the local currency.
This came during a speech by Khazali during the “Perfume Al-Sawater” festival, which coincides with the third anniversary of the assassination of the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, “Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis”, and the prominent Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani, with an American air strike in early 2020.
Khazali said in his speech, “The victory achieved over ISIS must be completed by achieving sovereignty and not allowing any foreign forces in Iraq,” adding that “enemies flocked against Iraq in 2014 from all countries of the world, openly and in secret.”
He added, “We achieved a political victory in forming a national government without international interference in choosing the prime minister,” pointing out that “there are quite a few political forces that want goodness and economic success, but there are still conspiracies.”
Al-Khazali noted that “there is an economic war against Iraq, despite the country’s good financial abundance.”
