Between the independent deputy, Basem Khashan, that the current government has no desire to remove American forces from Iraq, pointing out that the parties are also seeking to maintain these forces and have not exerted pressure on the government to remove them.
Khashan said, “The government and parliament, as well as some parties, stand by the side of keeping American forces in Iraq, despite the announcement by some parties of their commitment to removing these forces.”
He added that “the ongoing dialogues between Baghdad and Washington are only an attempt to convince the people that there is work going on to get American forces out of Iraq.”
And that “negotiations will not end with the removal of foreign forces, and no demand will be applied by the government to remove these forces, and what is happening today is an attempt to find a different picture of reality.”
He explained, “The removal of the American forces needs a decision by the government, while the current government has no desire to remove these forces, in addition to that the parties did not exert pressure on the government to remove these forces.”
