Twilight News / said U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday that Washington’s support for the Iraqi security forces will be “strong and sustained” to help in the fight against militants “Daash” who overran large areas in the north and west of the country.
altKerry said in a statement seen by “Twilight News” that Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki had assured him during their talks in Baghdad on Wednesday its commitment to the date of the first of July to form a new government.
The show U.S. President Barack Obama send up to 300 U.S. military advisors to assist in the coordination of the fighting, but declined to meet the request of the Iraqi government air strikes.
Obama renewed his call for the owners to make more of an effort to end the sectarian divisions.
Kerry said, “The important thing now is to get a clarification from the government on all leading the way, which will be followed with the formation of a government … in fact, Prime Minister al-Maliki on several occasions his commitment to the date of the first of July,” to form a new government.
Kerry said that Obama will not hesitate to move to send advisers and provide support for the Iraqi army.
“It will be an intensive and sustained support if Iraq’s leaders took the necessary steps to unite the country, it will be effective.”
He said that the support “will allow the Iraqi security forces face Daash more effectively and in a manner that respects the sovereignty of Iraq and also respects the vital interests of the United States and the region.”
