State of Law Coalition leader and former MP Jassim Mohammed Jaafar confirmed on Monday that the rift between Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and the Coordination Framework forces is deepening, noting that the latter has deviated from the political line adopted by the framework when he was nominated for prime minister.
Jaafar told Al-Maalouma Agency, “Al-Sudani has strayed far from the general policy of the Coordination Framework, which formed the basis of his support for reaching the prime ministerial position.”
He added that “differences have escalated over the past two years, especially after his secret meetings with al-Julani and his efforts to rapprochement with NATO,” stressing that “the Coordination Framework will not grant al-Sudani a second term under these circumstances.”
Despite the official media’s attempts to promote a positive image of the government, the Iraqi street and broad sectors of political forces believe that al-Sudani’s government has turned into a “government of shocks, not services,” amid repeated failures on the service, political, and security levels.
