Former MP Jassim Mohammed Jaafar confirmed on Monday that the majority of the Coordination Framework forces will not support the renewal of al-Sudani’s second term, due to what he described as “failures” he committed in not coordinating with the framework on sensitive issues, most notably his foreign policy.
Jaafar told Al-Maalouma Agency, “Al-Sudani came to the prime minister’s office with the nomination of the Coordination Framework, and he was supposed to consult with its forces on important issues, especially political ones, but he violated this commitment and made several moves without consulting his partners in the framework.”
He added that “Al-Sudani’s secret visit to Qatar and his meeting with controversial figures, including Abu Mohammed al-Julani, in addition to his recent visit to the UAE, took place without the knowledge or approval of the framework leaders, which caused him to lose political support within the coalition that brought him to power.”
He pointed out that “these individual moves contributed to the erosion of trust between al-Sudani and the framework forces, which led to a unified position among the majority of the framework’s leaders not to grant him a second term.”
Qatari media leaked a photo showing a meeting between Al-Sudani and Al-Julani in the Qatari capital, Doha, in a visit that took place secretly and away from the knowledge of the Coordination Framework.
