Shafaq News/ The leaders of the Coordination Framework are engaged in a “major and dangerous” political conflict with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani after the revelation of the wiretapping network that was primarily targeting leaders in the Coordination Framework and the Popular Mobilization Forces, headed by the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, the Secretary-General of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Qais Khazali, the Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, Hadi al-Amiri, the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Faleh al-Fayyadh, the Chief of Staff of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Abdul Aziz al-Muhammadawi, nicknamed “Abu Fadak”, and others, according to informed sources.
These sources told Shafaq News Agency, “This conflict really led to thinking about dismissing Al-Sudani and asking him to resign, but internal and external political mediations prevented that, and that was one of the goals of the visit of the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, General Ismail Qaani, to Baghdad last Tuesday.”
The sources indicated that “Al-Sudani, during his recent visits to Al-Maliki, Al-Khazaali and Al-Ameri, is trying to calm the atmosphere with them, by not knowing the work of this network and providing them with guarantees that it will not happen again, especially since the leaders of the Coordination Framework revealed to him that the intelligence service is involved with this network that was exposing the secret communications and meetings of the framework and some factions.”
The sources confirmed that “the atmosphere is still tense between Al-Sudani and some leaders of the Coordination Framework despite his visit to them, and the parties that truly support Al-Sudani within the framework are currently only two: the head of the Victory Coalition, Haider Al-Abadi, and the head of the National Wisdom Trend, Ammar Al-Hakim, and the latter played a mediation role between Al-Sudani, Al-Ameri, Al-Maliki and Al-Khazaali.”
The sources expected that “new dangerous facts about the eavesdropping network will be revealed in the coming days, especially since the armed factions accuse this network of involvement in the assassination of prominent leaders in Baghdad.”
This comes at a time when an informed source revealed to Shafaq News Agency that “the eavesdropping included all parties in the framework and its leaders, so there was escalation and accusations against Al-Sudani, until it reached the point of Khazali and Al-Maliki demanding Al-Sudani’s resignation, but the other parties in the framework indicated leaving the case to investigations and the judiciary, and it was agreed after that to proceed with this path, due to the confidence of all parties in the Iraqi judiciary, especially after Al-Sudani’s relationship with the network was not proven, and Al-Sudani denied having any relationship with Juhi’s behavior.”
The source added to Shafaq News Agency, “The framework is currently seeking to gather the issue, and to break the deadlock, Al-Sudani visited Al-Khazaali yesterday, and the atmosphere was positive, indicating that all parties are willing to overcome this difficult stage, especially in light of the regional threat, which confirms the necessity of supporting the government to confront any emergency.”
This is also confirmed by the member of the political bureau of the Sadiqoun Movement, Salam al-Jazaery, who explained that “the leaders of the framework have entrusted the espionage file to the judiciary, and the latter is continuing investigations, summonses, and arresting those involved in this act,” indicating to Shafak News Agency, that “there is no compromise or courtesy in this matter, because it is dangerous and reaches the point of eavesdropping on the home of the reference and on personalities and families.”
Yesterday, Friday, Al-Sudani conducted a tour in which he met with members of the Coordination Framework, starting with a visit to Haider al-Abadi, Qais Khazali, and then Hadi al-Amiri. The political situation in the Iraqi scene was discussed during those meetings, while Al-Sudani indicated his “great confidence in the support of the national political forces for the government’s steps,” according to a statement from his office.
Shafaq News tried to find out the details of the measures taken in the “Juhi Network” case and its developments, but the Prime Minister’s advisors refused to comment on the information, saying only that “the file is under investigation.”
It is noteworthy that on August 19, Iraqi security forces arrested a “wiretapping and forgery network” led by Al-Sudani’s close associate, Mohammed Juhi, and including employees and officers, according to statements made by MP Mustafa Sand.
On September 1, the Supreme Judicial Council described the information circulating about the wiretapping network case that was run by Mohammed Juhi, the former director of the Prime Minister’s office, as inaccurate.
The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council explained in a statement, “The information circulating on some social media sites regarding the investigation into what is known as the (Mohammed Juhi Network) case is inaccurate, as this information is based on analysis and inference far from the truth.”
