Security expert Mu’ayyad al-Juhaishi ruled out on Monday the possibility of the United States resorting to a military option to strike Iraq, suggesting it would instead rely on economic tools to exert pressure and destabilize the country.
Al-Juhaishi told Al-Maalouma that “the United States will not use military force against Iraq, unlike what happened in Yemen, where Washington and its allies launched direct attacks.” He explained that “the economic card, specifically the dollar card, will be the primary tool for implementing its political agendas in Iraq in a way that serves the interests of the Zionist entity.”
He added that “Iraq is not immune to the political and economic storms sweeping the Middle East, especially in light of escalating regional and international tensions,” warning that “any American manipulation of the Iraqi economy could lead to internal unrest that would exacerbate the current crisis.”
It’s worth noting that the United States has extensive influence over the Iraqi financial system, particularly with regard to the dollar, having previously imposed banking restrictions that have impacted local markets, amid warnings of future repercussions should economic pressures escalate.
