The Republican candidate for the US presidency, Donald Trump, abruptly ended a television interview he was conducting in the state of Arizona for security reasons.
During an interview with a NewsNation reporter who was asking him about the assassination attempt he was subjected to on July 13, Trump abruptly cut short the interview, saying: “… Can I tell you something? It’s dangerous for us to stand here and talk, so let’s not talk too much. (My security team) doesn’t want me standing here, and they don’t want you standing here either.”
Ahead of Trump’s speech in Arizona, authorities announced they had arrested a 66-year-old man, Ronald Lee Syverd.
“Syverud is accused of making threatening social media posts targeting Trump,” the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News.
The network explained that “Sevrud has outstanding warrants in Wisconsin for driving under the influence of alcohol, and others in Arizona for hit-and-run.”
Last July, Trump was shot in the ear after an assassination attempt during a campaign event in Pennsylvania, which ended with the death of a man in the audience.
