Iraq’s ambassador to Washington presents his credentials to Trump and announces his mission priorities

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday that Ambassador Krikor Der Hakobyan presented his credentials to US President Donald Trump as the resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the United States.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement, received by Shafaq News Agency, that the presentation of credentials ceremony took place at the White House, noting that the ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Iraqi government to the US president.
The Foreign Ministry statement quoted Der Hakobyan as saying he was proud of his appointment as ambassador to the United States, explaining that his mission priorities would focus on following up on the outcomes of the Prime Minister’s visit to the United States, and working to build a new era in Iraqi-American relations.
He added that his mission includes deepening strategic relations and expanding political, economic, investment and security cooperation, in order to enhance Iraq’s regional role and serve the common interests of the two countries and peoples.
