She goes, yes..I can just punch in the serial number and the CBI, Central Bank of Iraq will be able to tell me if it’s real or not. Then we ran the VND. She switched it on the screen. All the VND went through with no problem. It spit out the amount and how many bills on the screen. I said, can you tell me the rate? She goes, I can tell you the rate of the VND right now but I can’t tell you the IQD rate because I can’t see it yet…I said just out of giggles lets take the whole entire stack of IQD and run it through at one time, the lower notes and the big notes…The same thing happened. The same three bills were spit out…I put everything back in my bank bag…She goes, Mr. D I understand why you’ve been nagging us and why our bank manager is taking real good care of you. I see this in front of me now and I can’t wait to help you. It’s a lot of money. And the cashier beside her said, and it’s so pretty.

That is a different operating system… The resistance itself is the tell…The minister’s hesitation…fits the pattern of the old guard / Iranian-leaning elements still trying to slow-walk strategic files. Al-Zaidi overrode it on camera. That is the exact behavior IQD investors have been waiting to see from the new government … more forced execution on the files that actually matter for fiscal strength and investor confidence.

There is no RV…There’s been article after article about diversifying their economy, and more recently a complete overhaul of the banking system…Floating the currency would never be successful without a diverse economy. Floating with total dependence on oil is never a good idea and causes economic risks and volatility. Most recently, we now see Iraq wants to diversify as much as 46% of their economy away from oil.
