7-2-2014 Newshound Guru Enorrste Article: “Barzani: We seek to determine the day of the referendum on independence and the schedule will only take months” …based on this article…a process has been initiated to separate from greater Iraq by the Kurds. It may take several months. Suppose that the Kurds are successful and that they vote to leave. It is clear from other articles that such a vote would be successful. What then? The answer is this: 62 total votes will leave the Iraqi Parliament, leaving only 266 total members in the Iraqi Parliament. This would mean that it would take only 134 votes for a candidate to form a new government rather than the current 165 votes. Now ask this question: who would benefit from the Kurds leaving the greater Iraqi union? Answer: Maliki.
7-2-2014 Newshound Guru Enorrste Maliki will stall until the Kurds make their decision. The only way in which they would elect not to leave greater Iraq is if they are part of a unified government without Maliki. That prognosis is highly unlikely at the present time. Therefore, Maliki would be shrewd to sit back and let events unfold. By law he is in the first position. By practice he has shown that he might take up to 10 months to form a new government. By Barzani’s statement, if Maliki is given that opportunity, he will leave greater Iraq. Maliki’s response? “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” Maliki is in a fairly good position at this point. He cannot be summarily removed. A large chunk of his opposition is about to bolt. Time is on his side.
7-2-2014 Intel Guru Jester [Have you heard anything regarding the ISX opening up to more outside Iraq trading?] THEY ARE ALREADY TRADING OUTSIDE. ANYONE TELLING YOU DIFFERENT IS SPINNING IT TO MAKE YOU THINK THEY KNOW SOMETHING. I HAVE TOLD YOU…TO QUIT LOOKING FOR ISOLATED EVENTS LIKE THAT TRYING TO MAKE THEM MEAN SOMETHING.
7-2-2014 Newshound Guru Chattels the following is an excellent concise description of the state of affairs in Iraq: “Embattled Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki despite facing massive opposition to re-election persists in his efforts for a third term while Sunni extremists and Iraqi Sunni tribes gain control of large swaths of land and Kurds threaten to secede.”
7-2-2014 Newshound Guru Millionday supply and demand is what a market economy is…the economic reforms are going well and are not being held up due to security… the foreign investors are bringing jobs and also moving forward as expected in their contracts for infrastructure. the result of any slow down was from the media reports– those are the negative insights to what is going on and what is being done about it… the oil export is ready and willing able etc. and the stabilization of the reality of the monetary reform is supported by the reserves held by CBI. so as we see the one thing we all love…PROGRESS!
7-1-2014 Newshound Guru Tlar …the government was to be put together on the 1st. Not the RV. No body thought that what happened today and the way it happened would take place. There is a plan; Government together then RV. The pres and the Pm are already known to the coalition and approved by the Sunni’s and Kurds. Kerry is being sent to try to move the timetable up. We will see if he is successful. Until the new government is seated, the RV is on hold. Maliki will be removed and there will be a new government. The Rv will take place shortly after. By the way, the rate is north of $3.25 and south of $3.60. This will get resolved but the CBI is waiting just like you and me.
7-1-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru Arthur I think I’ve figured out what is going on in Iraq. It’s a numbers thing…once they did the numbers today, Najafi figured out they couldn’t do this today without a general consensus for one guy that would give them numbers over Maliki. So they went to Grand Ayatollah Sistani and told him to break the stalemate and he publicly broke it by endorsing Mahdi for PM. IMO they will all now come back put up Mahdi up against Maliki and Maliki will lose badly just by the numbers which will kill the SOL as a party.
7-1-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru Arthur It is incumbent on the SOL right now for their very existence to seriously consider dumping Maliki for Najm who is a Maliki puppet or risk their own extinction which will lead most of them to prosecution. Maliki is now hoping on a major catastrophic breakdown of the NA which will give him the nod for a 3rd term based on his election numbers. I do not think that is gonna happen. IMO the next 48 hours will see a lot of back door meetings within the NA and the SOL which IMO will lead to a new PM.
7-1-2014 Newshound Guru Kaperoni Article: “Liberal: names put forward for the presidency of the parliament is not acceptable” So nothing happened today other than swearing in of the MPs. Like Enorrste and I have said, this will take a while. And Maliki will squat looking for a third term at PM. There will be some good haggling over the next weeks, months to chose a PM and build a coalition big enough to get it done.
7-1-2014 Newshound Guru Millionday …dont get political and economical confused. i do not agree that they will have to put the trade and the isx and the smart cards and budget and all of CBI independent work on hold. i think that they are moving very fast compared to what we have seen in the past and CBI has moved mountains — yesterday they declared they are basel III compliant — that is international compliance — very good news.
7-1-2014 Newshound Guru Millionday …and they have announced once again — the smart cards are being loaded with all gov benefits TODAY. LETS DO ONE THING…FOLLOW THE MONEY. VISAS ARE GLOBAL, PERIOD. THEY HAVE TO BE EXCHANGEABLE TO USE VISAS AT THE AIRPORT OR EXCHANGE HOUSES OR TO TRAVEL OR TO USE AT ANY ATMS — ETC.
7-1-2014 Intel Guru Mnt Goat The State of Law Coalition is still insisting they are entitled to back Nuri Al-Maliki as their party did obtain the majority votes in the preliminary election results. So today we stand on a new timeline once again. Postponement seems to be the name of the game once again. Should I instead call it “stalling”? Stalling on the part of Maliki and…the State of Law coalition to buy yet more time to find a way to get Maliki in for a 3rd term. He already got them to postpone the 6/24 session to 6/27 then to 7/1 and now for another week.
7-1-2014 Intel Guru Mnt Goat Article quote: “The Chairman of the session, Mahdi al-Hafidh, adjourned the session for one week to reach an accord among the blocs over the candidates who will assume the posts of President, Speaker and Prime Ministers.” So the new parliament adjourned its session for one week to reach agreement on nominating the three Presidencies. However they did manage to swear in the new parliament members…So parliament is officially seated. They need a new speaker to complete parliament. I still firmly believe that we will not see any revaluation of the IQD unless Iraq has a stable and functional government and thus has a political environment that it can advance in and thrive in.
7-1-2014 Newshound Guru Chattels Article quote: “The Iraqi parliament has held its team on Tuesday in the presence of 255 deputies were sworn in, but these adjourned for the failure of the political blocs to agree on the chair of the Parliament and to the republic for the next week while the agreement provides” some progress it would appear…255 deputies were sworn in… so, we have seven ( 7 ) days of Iraqi news ” hell ” until the 8th of July. [What happens on the 8th?] Parliament ” scheduled ” to reconvene.
