3-23-2014 Newshound Guru Millionday [do you think they will Rv before the april 1 agreement or does it matter?] i think that all of the things we are seeing get done or announced as moving forward in a hurry tell us that the economic side of it (reform) is a must. i dont have a date but it seems they are hurrying to fulfill what they had said initially — 2014.
3-23-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru BGG Maliki just put (or will soon) put his guy in charge at the CBI. It appears he needs his hands on the financial levers of Iraq. Now ask yourself why??
3-23-2014 Newshound Guru Red Lily ARTICLE: “UNAMI welcomes the decision of the Kurdistan on the export of oil and declares its readiness to assist in approving the budget” HOWEVER VAGUE, AND I MEAN “VAGUE”, this almost sounds like progress is being made as it relates to Article 140 & oil and gas law. Quote: “this decision is the result of the first of the continuing negotiations between the delegations of the federal government and the province.” Its not over yet… NEVERTHELESS it is FORWARD MOVEMENT IMO. It is my opinion this is an interim agreement in order to get the budget out of the way so they can move forward economically.
3-23-2014 Intel Guru TD (SO IS TURKI IN OR OUT ?) According to info learned as of today, Saturday, he is still governor and will finish his term. Yes, Maliki again tried getting his hand in the cookie jar. He has wanted oversight of the autonomous CBI forever. Maliki is scrambling to pull out a rabbit out of the hat and gain re-election. There will other political attempts before end of April. What He and his colleague Erdogan (of Turkey) are now MOST petrified of is losing power and then being faced with corruption investigations. There will be NO movement on government agendas, laws. reforms, etc. by the opposition parties till elections are over in both countries. While it will be “dead time” in that respect it will certainly be most interesting to see what does unfold.
3-23-2014 Intel Guru Jester WELL I’D LOVE TO TELL YOU SOMETHING NEW AND IMPROVED BUT IT IS STILL IN THE PROCESS AND I KNOW NO ONE WILL LIKE TO HEAR THAT BUT THE FACTS REMAIN THAT IT IS UNDERWAY AND MOVING ALONG…THE BIG PICTURE IS A TAPESTRY THAT WILL HANG OVER THE WORLD FOR YEARS TO COME…AND IT IS BEING WOVEN NOW.
3-22-2014 Newshound Guru Kaperoni [I talk to several people…and they think you are right about the float but all of them think it will start at a higher rate do you think thats possible?] i think it will start low, but if it undervalued as they say, it should rise at least to a point quickly within weeks so who cares right? They just need to get to Article VIII and let the rest take care of itself.
3-22-2014 Newshound Guru Kaperoni [define the value of a point] when countries exist from a closed exchange regime, to a new exchange regime…its some kind of float. it will just move over at 1166 and rise from there but if it is way undervalued as so many say, it should have some sort of correction and rise quickly to some point. what that is, i dont know. its all relative to supply and demand and where Iraq’s economy is. one thing for sure, i think the dinar will be heavely traded once it comes out which will drive up its value…once the dinar is convertible, it will open the gates.
3-22-2014 Newshound Guru wmawhite [Do you think once they read the 2nd reading [budget] on Tuesday, do you think the vote will follow soon after?] i expect it next week…later in the week. remember…the budget in itself doesn’t bring a change in the IQD…that will come from the CBI.
3-22-2014 Newshound Guru Millionday [so the budget is just more progress for iraq and to allow provinces to spend right and maybe not to increase the iqd’s value? seems many are thinking the finished budget gets them off this ride?] i dont believe it does except i believe that the passing of it with the contracts and everything the first of april shows us that we are close to all being done at the same time.
3-22-2014 Newshound Guru Aggiedad77 Article: “Baghdad welcomes the resumption of Arbil export oil through the “Sumo” and Washington welcomes the decision” Baghdad is happy that the Kurds will begin to export oil in April through SOMO….and that revenues will be deposited into the DFI…to be distributed according to the federal budget…Barzani stressed that what they are doing is meant as a goodwill gesture towards a future agreement with Baghdad…this comes at a time that the US was putting some pressure on the region to resume oil exports…although no agreement between Baghdad and the Kurds has been reached…the US will continue to serve as a neutral intermediary between the two.
3-22-2014 Newshound Guru Kaperoni This is from Al-Iraqiya TV (State owned media outlet – very ‘pro-Maliki’ “They said the CBI is to be commended for the stability in the exchange rate of the Dinar to the Dollar – but was for the policy short term. It is time to take the necessary steps to reevaluate the Dinar and implement the project to delete the 000’s without delay”.
