The Central Bank of Iraq’s sales of foreign currency declined during July 2026 to $5.662 billion, a decrease of about $195 million, or 3.3%, compared to June, during which sales were recorded at $5.857 billion.

According to data from the Central Bank of Iraq, which was reviewed by Shafaq News Agency, the sales in July 2026 were distributed between $295 million in cash sales and $5.367 billion to boost bank balances outside the foreign currency sales window.

On an annual basis, the data showed a greater decline, with sales in July 2026 down 20% compared to July 2025, when they reached $7.081 billion, a decrease of about $1.419 billion.

Cash sales in July 2026 also increased by 31.7% year-on-year, from $224 million in July 2025 to $295 million, while sales to boost bank balances declined from $6.857 billion to $5.367 billion, a decrease of about 21.7%.

The Central Bank’s total sales during the first seven months of 2026 amounted to approximately $31.574 billion, compared to $47.985 billion during the same period in 2025, a decrease of approximately $16.411 billion, or 34.2%.
