Iraq recovers $13 million of its funds frozen in France

The Iraqi Funds Recovery Fund announced on Thursday the recovery of $13 million of Iraqi funds that had been frozen in French banks under court orders, and their return to the state treasury.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, said in a statement that the recovery process was the result of the follow-ups and procedures undertaken by the Fund in coordination and cooperation with relevant international and local authorities, indicating that the recovered amount was deposited into the accounts of the Iraqi Ministry of Finance after completing the necessary procedures and coordinating with the Arab Swiss Bank.
He added that recovering the amount represents a new achievement added to the efforts made by the Fund in pursuing and recovering Iraqi funds from abroad, stressing the continuation of work and coordination with the concerned authorities to recover the funds and assets belonging to the state and return them to the public treasury.
