He added that “the fields of Al-Mishraq sulfur were invested within the Iraqi-Polish cooperation agreement by the Centrosab Corporation at the beginning of the seventies of the last century,” noting that “the company mainly produces (filtered sulfur) materials and (alum) used in water purification and (sulfur). He pointed out that “the production line (filtered sulfur) has stopped since 2003 due to the company’s exposure to acts of looting during the sabotage events that accompanied the war on Iraq,” noting that “the company, within its allocations from the investment plan of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, worked to restart the production line.” Sulfur since 2010 and contracted with an international company at the time specialized in equipping specialized wells rigs for sulfur and equipping a plant to filter it, expressing his regret at the stoppage of rehabilitation and operation of the (filtered sulfur) production line after the (ISIS) terrorist gangs occupied the governorate, indicating that this line reached Iraq in 2015 and deposited it with the General Company for the Manufacture of Southern Fertilizers in Basra Governorate.
“The company’s management has drawn up a plan since last year to restart the sulfur production line, after obtaining the necessary approvals from the ministry to transfer and set up the refining plant, which is the main link of the production line, which was imported by the American company (Devco) at an estimated cost of 90 billion dinars,” he stressed. It is now in the process of restarting it. ”
Al-Jubouri called for “increasing the financial allocations through the investment plan within the federal budget in order to be able to restart the sulfur production line with a production capacity of one million tons per year,” indicating that “if this is not possible, the company can go to announce the production line (filtered sulfur) as an opportunity.” Investment and inviting international companies specialized in his industry, as it is the main activity of the company. ”
He continued, “The company owns the only plant in Iraq for the production of (aluminum sulfate-alum) which is used in the purification of drinking water, where it worked with self-efforts to restore the production line for this substance after it was destroyed as a result of the bombing of the governorate in 2016, and it is now working at its production capacity Amounting to 48 thousand tons annually, and work to expand its production in the future to produce up to 80 thousand tons annually, and the ability to fill the local need in support of the national product and the embodiment of the slogan (Made in Iraq) as (Shab) General Company for Mishraq Sulfur is a product with high specifications and quality comparable to the importer Pointing out to “send an invitation to the Baghdad Municipality and the water directorates in the governorates and companies in the ministries for the purpose of being able to communicate directly with the company to supply them with this substance at competitive prices.”
He pointed out that “the company has restarted work by operating a production line for (agricultural sulfur), and the company has the full capacity to meet the needs of local markets from this substance used in the elimination of agricultural pests and insects.”
