Iraq left the Silk Road to the path of developmentThe Director of the Railways, Younis Al-Kaabi, said today, Tuesday, that Iraq has left the Silk Road, although it is an Iraqi idea, to the path of development because it is an ambitious project for the Iraqi economy for the next fifty years.
Al-Kaabi explained in an interview with Al-Sumaria satellite channel, that Iraq abandoned the idea of the Silk Road, even though it was an Iraqi idea, and headed towards the path of development because it represents the Iraqi economic project for the next fifty years.
He added that the projects undertaken by the Iraqi government are meeting with objections and criticism from several parties, and the projects facing bottlenecks are the best evidence of these criticisms, explaining that the large Al-Faw port project is the first step on the road to development, indicating that the railways will have new railways accompanying the road to development. Al-Faw Port will be completed in 2025.
He pointed out that the railway has now extended from Basra to Mosul and transports oil derivatives from north to south, and we contribute to transporting grains between Silawat, in addition to transporting ration card items.
Al-Kaabi stated that the development road is scheduled to be completed within the year 2029 in conjunction with the construction of railways accompanying the development road, explaining that the development road will not pass near cities, and if it conflicts with citizens’ property, those affected will be compensated according to the expropriation law, and as for transgressors, their transgressions will be removed from the road. .
He pointed out that the partnership with Turkey is binding because it is the only outlet for Iraq to Europe through it. As for other countries, such as Qatar or the Emirates, their participation is limited because the project is distinctly Iraqi, and their participation enhances confidence in the project and its regional importance.
As Al-Kaabi explained, all neighboring countries are invited to participate in the Development Road project, as it is a regional project that serves everyone.
