BAGHDAD / JD / .. Geological Survey confirmed affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Minerals that Iraq has the largest reserves of phosphate after Maghreb, showed that the new trend in the industry is now about geological silicon industries.
The Director General of the Commission Khaldun Bassam in a written statement received / JD / copy of it: that Iraq possesses tremendous wealth of mineral resources unexploited so far the most important of phosphate, which Iraq has the largest reserves after the Arab Maghreb in addition to having tons of ceramic, sand and silica.
He added: As Iraq has enormous amounts unspecified Lime Stones who enters the cement and Alaptonayat industry which is used in drilling oil wells and these minerals are called scientifically ores to Avelzah.
He pointed out that the country has in addition to these non-metallic minerals to raw minerals that exist in abundance in the Kurdistan region, but it is not known until now because of the instability in that region not available a clear picture of the quantities as well as the exploration of oil also has had a major role in reducing the importance of metallic mineral exploration in the country which led to the reluctance of state direction to mineral exploration.
